The Barakahu Bypass – Islamabad is a strategic infrastructure initiative developed to ease congestion along Murree Road—one of the busiest entry points into the capital. Designed as an elevated highway bypass, the project diverts traffic heading towards Murree and Azad Kashmir, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted travel while reducing daily traffic bottlenecks within the Barakahu locality.
The project scope includes construction of a dedicated elevated roadway, approach roads, advanced drainage systems, and allied structures, ensuring durability and long-term efficiency. Approved for PKR 6–7 billion under PC-I, the bypass demonstrates a strong commitment to modernizing Islamabad’s transport network and addressing public demand for faster, safer mobility solutions.
Though originally planned across 18–24 months, the project was fast-tracked to provide early relief to commuters. Once operational, the bypass will drastically reduce travel time, improve road safety, and strengthen connectivity for Murree and Kashmir-bound traffic—contributing to both regional accessibility and overall urban circulation.
